Answer Dio by Decade 5 is an I-app that helps record audio for speaking engagements. Simply press record or schedule a recording in advance. When you press stop or the scheduled recording ends the audio will automatically be uploaded to the cloud.
Answer Tap the top menu bar and select the "Schedule Recording" routine. Tap in the New Recording field, then enter the name of the schedule. Tap in the Start Time field, then use the scrolling date and time wheel to choose when you want the schedule to begin. Tap Duration and use the scrolling wheel to choose the length of the recording. Note that the longer recordings produce larger files that may take a long time to upload to DropBox. Tap in the Repeat field and select how often, if ever, the recording schedule is to repeat. If you would like to receive e-mail notifications, enter your e-mail address in the last field, then click Done. Tap on the Email Notification header to return to the schedule. Review the schedule to make sure it is correct, then click Save.
Answer If you enter an e-mail address when you schedule a recording, you will receive an e-mail 24 hours before the recording is to begin, then another e-mail notifying you that the recording has completed and has been uploaded to your DropBox account. The advance notification is designed to reassure you that your recording device is powered and awake, and wifi is available.
Answer In order for Dio to be set to record an event on a regular schedule without human intervention, you must have a device such as an iPod Touch or iPad that can be plugged in and left in the area where the recording is to occur. A locking sound closet is ideal. The Dio app must remain open and awake, so be sure the device has access to constant power, and is not plugged in to a power strip that is turned off when the recording system is not in use. Install the Dio app on the device and, if wifi is available, connect the app to DropBox. Adjust the device's Settings so that it is not interrupted and never goes to sleep (see next FAQ). Open the Dio app, set the recording schedule and tap Save. DO NOT CLOSE THE APP. The Dio app must be open for recording to begin.
Answer Go to Settings > General > Auto-Lock and select Never to ensure your dedicated device does not go to sleep when unattended. Go to Settings > Notifications > Do Not Disturb and make the following adjustments: Scheduled = Off, Allow Calls From = No One, Repeated Calls = Off. Return to Settings and turn on Do Not Disturb. Finally, in Settings > Brightness and Wallpaper, turn Auto-Brightness Off and darken the screen brightness to save power.
Answer Incoming calls, notifications or text messages will automatically cause recording to stop, so you want to be sure you do not receive any any interruptions while you are recording. You can put your phone into Airplane mode if you like, but that will also block your access to wi-fi and will inhibit Dio's ability to upload your recording to DropBox. The best way to ensure uninterrupted recording on your iPhone is to turn on Do Not Disturb. Go to Settings > Notifications > Do Not Disturb and make the following adjustments: Scheduled = Off, Allow Calls From = No One, Repeated Calls = Off. Return to Settings and turn on Do Not Disturb.
Answer Go to All Recordings and locate the upcoming schedule you wish to delete or modify. Swipe from right to left on the title and a red square with an X will appear. Tap the square then Confirm Delete > Delete. Return to Schedule Recording to enter the new schedule. Recordings that were made on the old schedule are not affected and remain in your All Recordings library.
